A Simple Bathroom Refresh
With the new year, like most people, I always get the urge to organize and change around my decor! I don’t know about you, but I can’t redo every space in my home that I’d like to all at once! I’ve been slowly organizing my home over the past year and a half and updating spaces as I go.

All of my updates have been done using my DIY skills. I’m telling you, I don’t have any amazing abilities, and you can do these things as well! This is how I am able to create pretty spaces on a a budget!
My most recent room update was for the One Room Challenge in October! Take a look at my post, “Master Bedroom update” to see what I did to overhaul my bedroom for only $500!
I always say that I am a recovering maximalist. In the past I would buy things that I thought I could use in the future, but by the time I got around to doing anything I was no longer interested in using them or I never got around to updating the space!
I have worked hard to get rid of things and get more organized. I still have a way to go, but I’m getting there.
Most importantly, I have changed my mindset!
Since, I still have things left over from my “hoarding days,” it certainly comes in handy when I’m looking for a little refresh or change in my home!

I gave my bathroom a little update about a year and a half ago. Check it out in my post, “A Quick & Easy Bathroom Refresh” I liked it, but there was always something a little off. It ended up feeling a little more boho than I had planned. I kept buying stuff to try to change the vibe, but I just never fully liked everything together.
This year, I finally purchased the Serena & Lily dip-dyed stool to put in the bathroom! I made a knock-off of the stool last year to save some money.
The knock-off stool is in our powder room downstairs, and I really wanted a stool to sit on while bathing the kids, so I decided to take advantage of the great prices during the Serena & Lily’s Black Friday sale and their current tent sale! Here are few of my favorites that I have in my home! Scroll down for more tent sale favorites!
I ended up buying the small stool in white and the large stool in gray! I’m planning to put the large gray stool in my son’s room, which I’ll be updating in February on a $500 budget!
Once I put the small white stool in our bathroom, I could see the transformation that was needed! I got out a gray and white striped shower curtain that I had bought a while ago to try to change the vibe. I added that to the space, as well as, a plain white textured bath mat that I bought at Target last year.
Finally the combination of the bath mat, shower curtain, and Serena & Lily stool make the difference! I also switched in a pair of linen polka dot hand towels from Paper Source to the space.
