Finding a good bargain is such a sweet feeling! Am I right!?
That is why I LOVE going thrift store shopping!
It can be hit or miss and you have to put in some time to find the gems. You also have to be someone who loves to browse. That’s me!
I really started getting into thrift store shopping when I was pregnant with my daughter this past year. During those several months, I came across some gorgeous pieces! Some of them came home with me, and some of them were bought right out from under me!
You have to be quick, when thrift store shopping! Don’t expect anything to be waiting for you if you turn your back.
You would be shocked at what ends up at a thrift store! I have found high-end vintage pieces with tiny price tags!
Giving these old pieces a new lease on life is just as exciting as finding an amazing bargain!
(I’d love to share the before pictures of these nightstands, but they have gone missing! They must be with my keys, my phone, my scissors…you get the picture. Normally I will include the before pictures!)
One of the first pieces that I came across were these vintage campaign style nightstands. The clean lines and the brass plated hardware were what caught my eye. Although they don’t look exactly like the campaign style that we know today, they have a similar façade. I knew that they would look gorgeous with a pop of color to contrast with the brass!
Some people cringe when you paint wood, but I am “lacquer happy” and can’t help myself! There are SO many beautiful colors out there that can brighten up tired pieces of vintage furniture like these nightstands! How could you not give them a second chance!?
I had them professionally lacquered with automotive lacquer in the color, Naval, by Sherwin Williams. I had a tough time deciding between a kelly green color and a navy blue color.
(Honestly, even though the nightstands look lighter in the pictures due to my work-in-progress manual mode DSLR skills, they don’t look as dark as the swatch above.)
I absolutely adore how they turned out! The dark navy blue color really stands out against the brass plated hardware and transforms the nightstands into chic sophisticated bedroom furniture.
Don’t forget that vintage pieces have been around for a minimum of twenty years. Some of them might be in near perfect condition and some of them might be far from perfect condition. That’s what makes vintage pieces so lovely. They have a lot of stories to tell!
I was going for a bold updated traditional style. Do you see my vision?
I’ve had many people tell me that they don’t know where to start when pulling a room together, and that they can’t envision the end result. I found that creating a vision board is the best way to help them “SEE” a finished room before it’s actually right there in front of them!
I LOVE creating vision boards, but there’s only so much time in the day, so I had to choose just one way to style a room for these vintage navy campaign style nightstands. The nightstands mix perfectly with these green and gold jewel tones to create a regal and sophisticated feeling in this master bedroom! Take a look!
(Do you like any of the items seen on the vision board? You can find the source details below! And if you are interested in the navy blue campaign style nightstands, you can take a look at my Etsy shop where more treasures await!)

I’d love to see where these nightstands end up and what the new owner envisions! Until then, I’ll keep saving vintage items one piece (or two) at a time!
