$100 Room Challenge Week 2
The good news
This week’s progress was all about painting! I was able to use the leftover Benjamin Moore paint from my dining room! The color is called classic gray. It is a very light warm gray. It almost looks off-white. You will not believe this, but I had just enough paint to finish the powder room with two coats! It was sooo mean to be.
It really brightens up the space! I feel like the room feels bigger and most important taller. It feels happier too. I like that! The old walls were a dark gray, but not a cool dark gray, a scary dark gray. I also had one of the small side walls painted with chalkboard paint. It was cute at the time, but it was time to go. I know you’ll find this surprising, but not many people wrote on the chalkboard while in the bathroom! Yeah, I don’t get it either. 😉
Here are a couple of pictures of the other side of the bathroom before. You can see more before pictures from my post in Week 1!
In more good news, I also was able to make a Serena & Lily knock-off dip-dyed wooden stool for this space using a bamboo stool that I already had! All I had to do was paint the legs! You can see more before and after pictures of the stool HERE in my post!
The Not so good news
Unfortunately the shiplap won’t be happening. My dad is not able to help me, but more importantly, even though the plywood I would buy is only around $15 a sheet, it would still put me about $30 over budget! That might have to be an add-on down the road! It certainly won’t break the bank! If you are not sure what I’m talking about, take a look at my vision board from Week 1!
In the meantime, I’m very happy with my choice of color! I really didn’t have much choice! I don’t want to give too much away, but here’s a peak at the paint color!
Powder Room Refresh Week 2
In case you didn’t notice, in order to get into our bathroom you have to walk up two steps onto a landing. We converted a coat closet into our bathroom. Well, it was already there, but you entered from our kitchen. Our house is about one hundred years old, so it has some quirks. I love this little unique feature!
I’m also rethinking the light from Ikea! I already bought it, and LOVE it, but I’m trying to figure out if I can DIY a light fixture using some materials around my house! I’ll certainly keep you posted!
Week 3 Plan
- Make knock-off Serena & Lily mirror
- Stencil-(let’s hope it arrives!)
- Window covering

Great idea to dip the legs of the stool! Love seeing how it’s coming along!
Thank you so much! It was such an easy DIY!
Great start! Isn’t it fun when you can use something up that you’ve been saving (like your paint) and it works out perfectly?
I really like the touch of more natural looking wood with the stool and the tops of the stairs. Can’t wait to see it all put together.
Thank you so much! Yes! I was so pumped to use up the paint! It makes me realize what I can reuse in the future!
So charming! I love old houses. Your stool DIY is a fab idea- thanks for sharing that tip!
Thank you so much! I love older homes…most of the time! 😉 It’s such an easy DIY!
Well that stool is just amazing and now you have me plotting a makeover on one of my stools! 😆💕 Also, I LOVE the flooring in your bathroom! So beautiful!!!
YES!!! Go for it! Thank you so much!
Love everything! I did “faux” shiplap in our hallway closet because I didn’t want to spend the money so I just painted the lines. It’s still going to look awesome though!
Oh man! I thought about that, but I wasn’t sure how I’d transition the stencil and shiplap! Thank you!
I love that little stool, so cute! Looking forward to see what you do next week
Thank you so much!!!
I love what you did to the stool. It looks like you purchased it like that. Looking forward to seeing what you do this week.
Thank you so much! That means a lot!
