$100 Room Challenge Week 3
The good news
This week’s progress has been slow, but one positive thing is that I’ve got new window coverings in my powder room! The white faux wooden blinds that were there before, were always WAY too long and looked cheap. I could never figure out how to fix the length, because I threw away the instructions about seven years ago!
For my powder room refresh, I ordered the same whitewashed bamboo blinds that I have in my dining room. (I’ll be sharing my dining room refresh eventually!) I chose the whitewashed bamboo blinds because I felt like they were unique and made the whole bathroom very light and airy. At $29.00, they were a big part of my budget, but I think they were worth it! They give a custom look, but are much more budget friendly! All you have to do is screw the brackets into the window casing and attach your blinds using a wingnut! These blinds are super easy to install! I have them all over my home in different colors!
The other good news is that my herringbone stencil arrived!!! This is great, because it was coming from the United Kingdom, so I was a little concerned that it could get stuck at customs or take a wrong turn somewhere! This will be my first time using a wall stencil! I’ve done some research, so I’m ready to begin!
The Not so Good news
I started my knock-off Serena & Lily mirror and it is taking WAAAAAY longer than expected! My first knock-off Serena & Lily project was really quick and simple! You can see my “Serena & Lily Knock-Off Wooden Dip-Dyed Stool” HERE!
I’m using raffia to get the look of bamboo, but it is a very tedious process to wind the raffia around the tubing! Also, the tubing isn’t cooperating as much as I had hoped. I had some tubing leftover from a plumbing project, but it is really stiff and doesn’t want to stay in the shape of a perfect circle! If I had several hours of uninterrupted time, I probably would be further along, but motherhood calls! This means that I need to finish the mirror for the final reveal of the $100 Room Challenge. I’ll be crossing my fingers!

I LOVE your new blinds! I can’t wait to see how the stencil and mirror turn out! This room is going to be fantastic.
You are so sweet Beth! I really appreciate it!
I feel ya. This particular challenge has been crazy with so many projects and things to do. I know you’ll be able to do it, but I know it’s stressful this last week. Good luck with the stenciling and mirror-making 🙂
Yes! It is certainly crazy, but to be honest, I like a little excitement in my life! 😉
I’ve always found reading blogs to be a relaxing experience.
This blog was really informative, and I particularly enjoyed the fact that it highlighted the numerous Indian interior designers who have such diverse tastes.
I’d like to emphasise that we deal with interior décor and furnishings that complement these designers’ preferences while staying under budget.
