If you haven’t heard about the launch of Target’s new line, Hearth & Hand with Magnolia, I have to question where you live.
I’m basically at Target once a week, and it has been all over the internet! Hearth & Hand is a chic rustic farmhouse style, and although it falls under the “farmhouse” category, it is more modern than you would expect “farmhouse” to be. Farmhouse is not really my style, but I love love love this new line. I have already made a few purchases! You can check out my Instagram pics!
I saw this beautiful set of four brass coasters in their line. They have the words “Merry” and “Bright” stamped on them, so they are just precious for the holidays! They price is ridiculously inexpensive at $9.99, but I realized that I could recreate a knock-off version of them for $0!
Brass Coaster Set-Hearth & Hand

I already had air-dry and oven-bake clay to make the coasters, small letter stamps, and gold spray paint! It was a pretty simple project to recreate, and I think they look adorable! I can’t wait to use these for the holidays!
Details to DIY the Knock Off Brass Coasters:
Materials Needed:
1. Clay (air dry or oven bake)
3. Fine Grit Sand Paper (180 or higher)
5. Mod Podge (optional)
Step 1:
Roll out the clay until it is about 1/4″ thick.
Step 2:
Use a cookie cutter or a cup to cut out your circle. (I used a cup to cut out my circle.) Don’t worry about any rough edges. You will sand them later.
Step 3:
Let the clay air dry or bake your clay according to package directions.
Step 4:
After the clay is dry or after it has cooled down, sand the edges so that they are smooth.
Step 5:
Stamp the letters into the clay spelling “MERRY” and “BRIGHT.”
Step 6:
Spray paint the coasters gold! (You could also use craft paint, but I think the spray paint creates a smoother finish.) If you would like to add mod podge to “lock in” everything, now would be the time!
Let the paint dry, and then put your hot beverage of choice on the coasters!

They’d make a cute hostess gift! You could even make them into ornaments for a Christmas tree!
