FREE Printable “I’m Donuts About You” Valentines
Once again, the Target Dollar Spot stopped me in my tracks! Right now they have pre-made valentines and the cutest things to make your own valentines!
In an effort to make more work for myself, I decided to completely make my son’s valentines this year! 😉 He still has no interest in this type of craft, so for another year, I get to make things that I think are adorable! I found the most precious colorful donut erasers and pencils at the Dollar Spot and knew they would be perfect for some FREE printable valentines. I had a vision of the donuts sitting in the middle of a little rectangular Valentine’s Day card filled with colorful text! I got pretty close to that vision. I’m no graphic designer, but I’m learning!
I created the FREE printable valentines on a program called Canva. I LOVE this program, and it’s FREE! You just log onto canva.com and create an account. I use it in tandem with Photoshop. They have a paid version, but for right now, the FREE one works great. It’s very user friendly, and I made these cards pretty quickly…for me! I decided to use colors like pink, purple, aqua, and yellow because they complimented the donuts really well and popped against the white cardstock background.
I placed a border around the cards to help define the edge a little more. I found a free graphic of a little donut to use for the “O” in the word “donut.” It’s hard to see it on here, but he has a sweet little face! It’s super cute.
Our printer was wasn’t working right, so I decided to have them printed at Staples. For less than $3.00, it was a steal! They did a great job. I cut them out myself just using a pair of scissors. The border created a straight edge for me to follow, so the lines are pretty straight.
I thought I’d be able to attach the donuts with glue dots, but they wouldn’t stick to the erasers. Plan B is a little better, but still not perfect. I used scotch tape to attach them. The donuts stick to the cardstock unless the paper is lifted and jostled a bit. To prevent the donut erasers from getting lost, I decided to put the valentines inside clear plastic favor bags that I already had. I could also easily include the pencils. I added a bit of pink crinkle paper and pink and white bakers twine to the packaging. I’m still thinking about a Plan C to stick the donuts to the cardstock. If you have an idea, PLEASE tell me in the comments! It makes for a pretty cute valentine! I’m just donuts about them! See what I did there. 😉
They are just too precious not to share, so you can find the FREE printable valentines at the bottom of this post.
