Dollar Store Shower Curtain Spider Web
Now that I have kids…young kids…I just don’t feel right showcasing all of the scary and gory Halloween decorations that I, oh, so love!
Don’t get me wrong, I have plenty of skeleton animals and creepy crawly things, but the blood and zombies will just have to wait a couple years. At least until my daughter turns 2. 😉
I’ve had a great time trying to come up with fun Halloween decorations that aren’t so scary! You can see my “Witch Legs Doormat,” “Where to Find Halloween Decorations on the Cheap,”and “Knock-off Pottery Barn Halloween Wreath” if you want some inspiration!
I’ve seen a few spider webs floating around Pinterest, but I wanted something a little larger than what I had seen, wanted it white, and wanted it durable! I had to put on my thinking cap to make it happen!
I realized that a shower curtain liner was huge, white, and water resistant! It could get wet if you wanted to put it outside, and it was CHEAP! On one of my Dollar Tree runs, I picked one up to try out the spider web. I got one without the magnets, but any shower curtain liner would work! You could just cut off the magnets.
You cut it out using the same instructions that you would use if you were making a small spider web out of a piece of paper. I remember making a million of them when I was a kid.

Details to DIY the Dollar Store Shower Curtain Spider Web:
Materials Needed:
1. White Shower Curtain Liner (I got mine from the Dollar Tree, but any white shower curtain will work. If you don’t feel like going to the store, HERE is a cheap option!)
4. Scotch Heavy Duty Mounting Tape
Step 1:
Open shower curtain liner and tear off the top edge where the curtain rings would go. (It just tears right off.) You need your curtain to be square and by tearing off that top piece it almost will be square. (Later you will trim the curtain a little more making it square.)
Step 2:
Fold one corner to meet another corner forming a large triangle. (Triangle fold 1)
At this point you will need to trim off about an inch from the shower curtain to make it a “perfect” square. (It does NOT need to be perfect!)
Step 3:
Fold the triangle in half again to form another smaller triangle. (Triangle fold 2)
Step 4:
Fold the triangle once more for a third time making a smaller triangle. (Triangle fold 3)
Step 5:
Now you will fold the curtain to create a “cone-like” shape. Make sure your curtain is smoothed out and as flat as possible.
Step 6:
Use your painter’s tape to close the “open” side of your cone.
Step 7:
Cut off the top of the cone into a slightly curved shape. Discard piece.
Next, starting on the open side (the side with the tape), cut curved “rectangles” out of the curtain. Mine were about an inch thick.
DO NOT CUT ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO THE OTHER SIDE. You should stop your cuts with about 3/4 of an inch left on the closed side of the curtain so that it does not rip.
Step 8:
Remove the painter’s tape and gently open the spider web! Hang it up and admire your gorgeous EASY DIY Halloween project!
Video Tutorial
(This is my first video, so cut me some slack! I’m a bit of a hot mess. I have about an hour during naptime to complete projects, pictures, posts, etc.! As I was watching the video I was thinking, “How did I not notice that some of my hair fell out of my ponytail holder…did I shave my legs today…I guess the camera really does add ten pounds…oh, wait, that’s just the baby weight that I’m still hanging onto…ugh!”)
