Affordable & Adorable: 5 Easy Ways to Refresh Your Bathroom
Today on “Affordable & Adorable,” I’m looking at ways to refresh your bathroom! A few years ago we took our bathroom down to the studs and had it completely redone. We even moved a wall back a few inches! It’s amazing what a few inches can do! Our house is older, so we have one full bathroom and one half bathroom. Maybe one day we will have a master bathroom, but not today!
It’s been about six years since we made any changes in the bathroom, and I felt like it needed a little change, but doing anything major was definitely out of the question. I’ve been working on decluttering, organizing, and cleaning my whole home in my “Hot-Mess House Challenge!” You can read all about the challenge in my post HERE! I’ve completed my linen closet and I’m currently working on the bathrooms. To see the before and after pictures of my linen closet, you can check out my post, “How to Organize a Small Linen Closet.”
When looking for inexpensive ways to update my bathroom I realized that there are 5 ways to refresh your bathroom without having to do any major updating that worked for me! I want to share them with you, because they are such simple ways to make you love your bathroom again! And if you feel moved to do more than these easy ways to refresh your bathroom, have at it!
5 Easy Ways to Refresh Your Bathroom
Shower Curtain
A shower curtain is one of the largest pieces in your bathroom…if you have a bathtub enclosure. You can create a whole new look by choosing a specific color or pattern. I love my shower curtain that I got from Home Goods several years ago, but it has become slightly stained from water and soap, so I decided to get a new one. I bought the first one in the grid below, because it was such a steal under $20! It might be hard to see, but it has horizontal stripes. I might not wear horizontal stripes, but it looks pretty cute in my bathroom! In fact, I’d love it if it made my bathroom look bigger! I’ve linked a few similar ones along with some others that I had my eye on! Whether you like color or something simple, these shower curtains are sure to refresh your space!
Bathmat
Who says that you need to use an actual bathmat!? Not me, that’s for sure! I found my current mat at Target. It is just a regular runner. I loved the neutral color and the unique pattern. There are also indoor/outdoor rugs that can double as bathmats. If you decide that you prefer a traditional bathmat, check out the extra longs ones! I used one of those before my new one. I liked that I could use one mat instead of having two separate mats in the room. It made the space feel more cohesive. Here are some other cuties that caught my eye.
Accessories
When talking about accessories for a bathroom, think hand towels, candles, apothecary jars, stools, etc. The possibilities are endless when it comes to adding character to your bathroom and focusing on a certain style to really drive it home! I bought the white turkish towels from Pottery Barn because they were on sale and the bamboo stool because I’m sick of kneeling while giving my kids a bath! Is it me, or is it the most uncomfortable angle trying to wash them?

Hardware
This simple update can make such a difference in how a piece looks! You can change the hardware on your vanity or medicine cabinet. You can also change the hardware of your towel bars, toilet paper holder, hooks, light switch plates, and more! I can’t wait to share my money saving trick to get the Schoolhouse Electric look for less!
Paint
This update might not be as easy as the others, but it will sure make a big impact! Go from dark to light or light to dark. Whatever you fancy, just get a roller and a paintbrush and start making the change!
