Ever since I got my letterboard from JoAnns on Black Friday, I’ve been obsessed with creating fun and quirky signs! I want like three more letterboards to put around my house! How many is too many?
When decorating for Valentine’s Day I was trying to think of some funny or cute sayings to write on my letterboard. I didn’t want something sappy for this project. I wanted something funny. Honestly there are SO many perfect sayings! I had to pick just one, so I ended up choosing, “I’ve Got My Eyes On You!” I realized that could use those giant googly eyes as some fun decorations to add to the board. Then I realized that I could make them even cuter by adding some sweet little eyelashes! My vision was born, so I gathered my supplies from JoAnns and Michaels to create my Valentine’s Day Letterboard! The letterboard is the perfect centerpiece to my Valentine’s Day Mantle. Tutorial: Details to DIY the Valentine’s Day Letterboard
Step 1:
Apply the pink and aqua letters. I wrote “I’ve Got My Eyes On You”…Forever. You can use any cute saying. There are so many that it’s hard to choose just one!
Step 2:
Cut out the eyelashes from the black construction paper. I made the first one about four inches long and then each of the other eyelashes slightly shorter than the one before them.
Step 3:
Wrap each eyelash around a pencil to curl it. If the eyelash is too curled, you can just smooth it out.
Step 4:
Apply the eyelashes to the back of the eyeballs. The eyeballs are sticky, so you can just press the eyelashes onto the backing. The longest eyelash will go on the outside and then you can place the next longest and so on.
Step 5:
Adhere the eyeballs onto the letterboard. Like I mentioned above, the googly eyes are sticky on the back, so they will stick right to the letterboard.
