If you read my post yesterday, you saw that my daughter’s first birthday party vision board was a “Sky High” First Birthday Party. I couldn’t narrow it down, so I came up with a broad theme that encompasses clouds, suns, and pastel rainbow colors!
The bright cheerful colors are gorgeous in my opinion, but to have those colors around Christmas time made things a little more challenging! I never thought of this before having my daughter, but December birthdays (which are the rarest in terms of birth months by the way) create a challenge when decorating for birthdays! I mean if you wanted to have a red and green themed party then you are good to go, but I didn’t really picture using red and green in her birthday theme. So I went with a less traditional glittery pastel Christmas color palette this year in order to combine her party decorations and the Christmas decorations!
Honestly, I’m LOVING it!
It’s a fun take on Christmas decor, and I don’t know if I’ll go back next year!
If you haven’t seen my vision board for her “Sky High” Birthday Party, you should take a peek. If you did see it, you’ll see that I strayed slightly from the vision board. I didn’t want the vision board to contain Christmas decor, because not everyone has a December birthday! My parties are usually a little different than my vision boards and that’s ok in my eyes!
I stuck to the same bright pastel color palette as the vision board and included most of the items on there. In retrospect though, I SO wish I had those Meri Meri rainbow cupcake holders and filled my drink dispenser with pink lemonade!!! How cute would that have been!? I wasn’t planning to make cupcakes, but I had leftover batter and just threw it in the oven!
Every party needs a little DIY, so I DIY’d a Cloud Runner out of some white sparkly felt! All I did was use a sharpie to draw a giant cloud, almost the length of my table, and cut it out! Easiest project ever! I didn’t even post about it. I figured that after the party it could be a “snow” runner! My second DIY project was a No Sew Cloud Garland. It turned out so sweet! Finally, I made some Cloud Slime to go with the cookies as party favors! It was actually a big hit, even among the older kids! Who doesn’t love slime! Right, parents!? 😉 If you read my post yesterday, thank goodness my nieces were there, because I did something wrong to my slime and it was SUPER DUPER sticky! They fixed it in an instant!
I had gotten this cardboard deer head at Target last year, and decided to spray paint it THIS pink and tie it in with the party and Christmas decor! Unfortunately they don’t have them this year, but you can find another one on Etsy that is almost identical!
I was going to attempt to make the cloud cookies, but then I realized that I was crazy trying fit that in, so I ordered them from Plum Coffee on Etsy. I couldn’t be happier! They arrived so well packaged and were all intact. They were just precious and delicious!
I took the pictures below during the forty-five minutes that my daughter napped! I was hoping to get some pics with the food on the table, but of course she took a short nap! It might seem a little bare, but you get the idea!
You can find the source details to the pictures below! I’ve separated them into Dining Room, Party Favors, and Living Room! I tried to include as much as possible, but if I’m missing something, just leave a comment, and I’ll get back to you!
