What gets your juices flowing!?
I am inspired by vibrant and relaxing spaces that have something fun or whimsical to make them unique! The details in your home should make you smile and tell a story about your life. After all, it is YOUR home! I love mixing the old with the new and the high end (more like medium end…Ha!) with the affordable, or better yet free! I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty and love giving old pieces new life. What I enjoy most is visualizing all the small features in a space, project or party, and then seeing them come together in the end to create a large alluring picture!
Who else shacks up with you on Central Avenue?
You can find my husband, Brian, my son, Finn, and my daughter, Liev living the dream (wink) on Central Avenue. Although my little family might fit the standard on paper, we have a unique situation. My husband works from home, and I’m at home with our two children EVERY day, ALL day. Ok, maybe not every day, all day, but having everyone together in an old house that is less than 1,800 square feet for the majority of the day, has had its challenges to say the least. It is a new phenomenon and has taken a bit of getting used to. Let’s just say that my husband does not possess the same ninja-like skills when trying to avoid the “creaky” floorboards during naptime! Grrr.
What did you do before the babies and the blog? The short version please.
Sleep. I’m kidding. Kind of. My education and interests have taken me from A to Z. I always have LOVED to DESIGN and CREATE. As a little girl I would invite my friends over and convince them to spend hours setting-up the perfect decor for Barbie’s dream house. As I got older I’d sneak into my dad’s workshop and use his tools to make anything and everything. In high school some teenagers changed their hair color for fun. I rearranged my bedroom furniture! Crazy! Crazy awesome.
Since college I have worked at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, using my Bachelors degree in Art History, as a fourth grade teacher using my Masters degree in teaching, and most recently (between changing diapers, preschool, and everything else) as an interior decorator for CENTRAL AVENUE INTERIORS. Creating and designing makes me happy and keeps me sane!
