If you don’t have a lot of space to get organized, try using the back of a door! I used some wall hanging file folders and hooks to create one of our family command centers! With a little pop of pink, this door is one of our keys to keeping organized!

Family Command Center: Back of Door Storage Solution
I began working on my family command center weeks ago when I first started to look for some permanent wall calendars. After the new year, or actually for a whole year, I’ve been working on decluttering and organizing my home. You can see more in my “Hot-Mess House Challenge” post! It is such a work in progress and there always needs to be something organized!
When I say permanent wall calendars, I mean calendars that you continue to write on (and erase) year after year, rather than paper ones you throw away after the year is complete. You can see the family command center ideas that I’ve been looking at HERE! After a lot of thinking, I’m planning to have two separate family command centers in my kitchen. I don’t want anything to look cluttered, so I’m going to need to separate my wall calendar and the file folder holder for our paper storage in two different locations.
Part 1
The first space where we will hold all of our papers is on the back of our basement door. This might sound ridiculous, but using the back of a door is a great way to find storage space! The wall file folder holder is already on the back of the door. I bought the file folder holder from Ikea and it was super easy to put together and hang! You might have seen it already, because I shared it in my Instagram stories. I had planned to add each of our names to the pockets using vinyl cutouts from my Circuit Explore Air 2! However, I ran into a snag with my new computer, so I just wrote them on by hand for now. I’ll replace them as soon as I can. You can use any kind of labels! For more ideas for labels, check out my post “How to Use Labels to Organize Your Linen Closet!”
I’ve been itching to paint a door pink in our house, but that’s a bit bold for me! The inside of the basement door was the perfect place to use pink! It’s a nice surprise when I open it up, but it’s not in your face! I had some pink paint left over from my daughter’s bedroom ceiling, so I decided to use that since it was free! The paint color is Fond Memory by Benjamin Moore. It’s a very soft and subtle light pink.
I LOVE the way that it turned out! I had already hung the gold hooks and wall hanging basket from Target for coats and gloves/hats, so I just removed them to paint. Unfortunately Target no longer makes the exact gold hooks that I bought, but THESE are the same style just a slightly different gold color.
Part 2
The other location for our family command center will be the wall calendar area where I’ll use the acrylic wall calendar that I bought from Circle and Square Decor! I’m obsessed with this acrylic wall calendar! It’s definitely an investment, but worth it in my opinion! I haven’t installed it yet, but that is coming soon, and I’ll share all about it in a second family command center post!

With spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to refresh a space in your home and get organized! Maybe even paint a pink door! I’ll be sharing part 2 of my family command center next week!
Unfortunately, not all of the sources are available anymore, but here are some similar items!
