Cloud Inspired Pumpkins
I think I’m becoming slightly obsessed with all things cloud! It started with the cloud napkins for my daughter’s first birthday. Then it was my daughter’s DIY Cloud Costume for Halloween. Now, it’s DIY Cloud Inspired Pumpkins!
Clouds are just so sweet! I can’t even remember when I thought of this idea, but it was definitely after I made my daughter’s Halloween costume.
I’ve been trying to find some not-so-scary Halloween decorations this year, even though I LOVE spooky and creepy decor. I still have some freaky stuff in my house, but with my little kiddos, I’ve challenged myself to find some cute Halloween decorations. My “DIY Dollar Store Shower Curtain Spider Web” definitely fit the bill for not-so-scary and cheap!
These delightful little pumpkins don’t have to be used just for Halloween. In fact, I like them even better for November and Thanksgiving! They would be just scrumptious on the Thanksgiving kids table or your Friendsgiving table! (Note to self…remember this!)
I found these paper mache pumpkins at JoAnn Fabrics. They were on sale, and I was able to use a coupon as well. Never pay full price when you go there! If you don’t have a coupon, you can log onto their website and find coupons there. One is better than none!
I already had all of the paint and glue. I picked up the glitter at Target (love it!) and the eyelashes at the Dollar Tree!
The finished cloud pumpkins fit perfectly in our playroom right next to the Dollar Store Shower Curtain Spider Web! I was actually surprised that my son even noticed them. He told me that there was a daddy cloud pumpkin, a mommy cloud pumpkin (with a baby in her belly…hmm), and a girl cloud pumpkin! He nailed it! I was going for a little cloud (pumpkin) family, but I wasn’t sure if anyone would be able to tell that! Hopefully if a three-year-old boy can guess that, you all can too!
Details to DIY the Cloud Inspired Pumpkins:
Materials Needed:
1. Pumpkins (small white pumpkin, taller white pumpkin, brown pumpkin)
4. Modge Podge
6. Gold Glitter
8. Paintbrushes
Step 1:
Spray paint the pumpkins from head to toe in your color of choice. I did two white and one light blue.
Step 2:
After the pumpkins are dry, generously “paint” modge podge on the stem of each pumpkin and sprinkle on the glitter. The more the better! Your goal is to completely cover the stem in glitter.
Step 3:
Once the glue and glitter have dried, place the eye lashes onto the pumpkins or draw the eyes onto the pumpkin. It is easier to decide the location of the pink cheeks once the eyes are in place. As long as the fake eyelashes have adhesive already on them, you do not need to use any glue. If you are drawing circles for the eyes use a black sharpie marker.
Step 4:
Paint on your pink cheeks. You will most likely need two coats. After the coats are dry you can draw on your mouth using a black sharpie marker.
After you draw the mouth, you are all finished! There are so many cute things you could add onto these little guys, so have at it!

I’m sure I will have more cloud finds or projects coming your way, because I can’t seem to resist them!
