If you have been reading along, I have stepped outside my comfort zone this year and used much brighter and not-so-traditional Christmas colors in my home! I’m so excited about it, and never would have expected that I would use these colors a few years ago.
Last year was the first year that I branched out with my Christmas color palette. I decorated the playroom in some bright kid-friendly colors. This year I’ve added a few new Christmassy items to the playroom to make it even more fun and funky this holiday season!
I love our playroom! It’s small, cozy, and quaint. (I took this picture of the playroom the day that I completed it! It’s not quite in focus and the lighting is a little harsh, but you can still see the room. I’m wishing that the chalkboard looked that fresh today! If anyone knows a secret to keeping your chalkboard looking new, PLEASE leave me a comment below!)
The colorful Christmas decor all started because of my daughter’s first birthday that was at the beginning of December. I just couldn’t see mixing the bright cheerful colors that I had chosen for her First Birthday vision board with the traditional reds and greens of Christmas.
I feel like anything goes these days with color combinations and styles, so I’m feeling freer than ever in my decorating for Christmas! My last post was about Colorful Christmas Decor, and I hope you found it inspiring! Now I have my own colorful Christmas decor to share with you in our playroom!
It has been SO MUCH FUN to decorate it this year, because my son is finally starting to “get” Christmas! He couldn’t believe that we had two Christmas trees. We have a six-foot faux tree from Ballard Designs in the playroom and a real one in our family room (Today is the last day for 30% off all Holiday items at Ballard!). I definitely prefer white lights, but I LOVE the colored lights on our playroom tree! They might even make me a convert! Maybe. For now they can stay in the kids’ space.
Last year I drew a mantle and fireplace on the chalkboard. I did that again this year so that I could hang these sequin stockings that I found from Target. I hung them using THESE simple command hooks. Love command hooks!
The playroom NEVER looks this clean…ever, unless I’m taking pictures or having company over. I just want you to know that! I try my best to keep it clean…hahaha! Ok, I don’t really try at all. One kid was at preschool and the other was napping, so it looks clean here!
