Who says that you have to stick to red and green when decorating for Christmas!? The rainbow is the limit when choosing bright cheerful colors for your holiday decor this year!

This Christmas I’m working with a completely new color palette in my home! I never would have expected it, but I’m totally loving how it turned out! If anyone had told me five years ago that I would be decorating with pink, red, aqua, etc., I’d have laughed in their face!
If you have been following along, you know that my daughter turned one at the beginning of December and that influenced my color palette for Christmas. I couldn’t figure out how to decorate for her First Birthday Party and for Christmas, so I ended up mixing in some Christmas decor that was filled with bright colors. I had planned for her “Sky High” first birthday party to be full of bright cheerful colors.
Before decorating for my daughter’s birthday, I had planned to stick to pretty traditional Christmas colors in most of my house. Although, red isn’t really my thing, so I don’t use much red.
However, in the playroom, I LOVE getting crazy colorful at Christmas time! I’m a white lights kind of gal for our main tree, but we definitely go for the colored lights on the playroom tree! We always have a real tree in our family room in front of our bay window, but a few years ago when I was pretty pregnant with my son, I decided to get a smaller six-foot faux tree from Ballard Designs (It’s 30% off for two more days!). I’m SO happy that I did, because now I use in the playroom for a fun and funky kids tree!
My son will be four on Valentine’s Day, and I feel like he finally gets Christmas this year! He loves the colorful decor that I used in the playroom!

All these bright cheerful colors make me so happy! I’m definitely going to continue to use bright colors in my Christmas decorating in the future. We’ll see if I keep it in the playroom or let it expand into the rest of the house like I did this year!
