How to Create a Classic Christmas Mantel
This year I’m all about decorating in simplicity. That goes for everyday decor and holiday as well! I was feeling overwhelmed with stuff, so I started working on getting rid of it. Then my style of decorating started to change based on the feelings that I had for too much stuff! I’m really finding beauty in simple design and that’s why my Christmas fireplace mantel visions led me to a simple and classic style.
I’m sticking to neutral colors for this Christmas season and adding in some brass color and wooden texture. My mantel vision is no different! If you are looking to create a simple and classic Christmas mantel this year, let me show you how I did it!
How to Create a Classic Christmas Mantel:
Step 1:
In order to create my classic Christmas Mantel I started by laying my greenery first. You can hang your garland so many different ways. I wanted mine to fall over the mantel, so that is why I chose to place mine like this.
I used THESE faux garlands from Pier 1. They are the most realistic I’ve ever seen! And their price is fantastic for well-made faux garlands! They have been in stock and out of stock several times this season, so if you see them online, buy them! Here are some others that are similar:
Step 2:
The next thing that I did was place my brass candlestick holders in a line down the mantel. I bought two different sizes for some difference in height. Anything brass is classic in my opinion! Here are the candlestick holders I bought:
Step 3:
I added my DIY “Painted Dollar Store Nutcracker Decorations” next. I found these guys at the Dollar Tree and spray painted them white and gold! You can see the full post HERE!
I placed them in between the candleholders for a symmetrical effect.
Step 4:
The last thing that I did was add the wooden bead garland that I found HERE! I love how it pops against the greenery and adds some texture to the Christmas mantel! Here are more wooden bead garlands:

I found the stockings at Home Goods and added them to the mantel. I love their chunky textures and neutral colors. It makes the garland and the brass really pop! Here are some chunky knit stockings:
